There's one at Hurley (just upstream from Marlow). I suspect every island in the Thames will belong to someone, so it would be trespassing as it would on any other bit of private land - plus it will be carpetted with goosesh*t.

I'm sure I've read about islands were you can just rock up and camp. Pretty sure I've read there are two islands down from Sonning Lock, by the Lynch that you can camp at.

Have a look as Shiplake lock - there's a funny private island owned by the "townsfolk", and I think they do a bit of public camping. Similarly at Cookham lock there is a very small campsite which is open to the public. I think if you look up the environment agency website has details of camping at the locks, which seems to be a somewhat brilliant idea at odds to such a public body.

Rushey (Faringdon) and Pinkhill (Witney) lock also have campsites too.

If we do decide to camp I'm considering one of the camping hammoks as they look nice and comfy
