I am flying to Orlando MCO from LGW in May and decided to upgrade to premium economy this morning for a ridiculous price of a grand for 2 of us.

Now I know all the extras that flying premium with Virgin gives you however I understand there is also added luggage benefits, I can't seem to find anything on the VA website.

Does anyone know the details on extra luggage? We're flying on a new A330.

TIA.

Should you not have checked before paying for it?

I did it for the comfy seats, better food, better legroom etc the luggage is just a bonus so even if it wasn't there I would still have booked premium hence why I didn't check.

Hope that's OK with you smile

Each to their own, and thanks for subsidising my trip, but no way would I pay that for PE. I had it from the US for $100 each a few years ago and thought it well worth that.

Last trip we took was on a 747 and the downstairs PE was almost empty. Once the place was in the air, the crew moved all their mates into the seats.

Perfect, thank you.

I had hoped it was 2. I know it's a ridiculous amount of money and I had planned to try my luck upon arrival at the airport as you can get it massively discounted however there are only 4 PE seats left on the return journey so didn't want to take the chance.

I am a very fidgety flyer, I struggle on 3 hour flights to Spain let alone flying to the states!

I occasionally used to upgrade to PE, and then realised it wasn't really worth it for a free newspaper, a glass of cheap pop on boarding and a bigger seat.

Upper class was a much better experience.

That's massively under selling it to be fair. To a lot of people flying PE isn't worth the extra £500 per person, to some it is!

You have to be extremely privileged and 'in' with the guys at Haymarket...

In my (considerable) experience they never discount it from the UK. On the last flight I mentioned, they had cards up at check-in offering PE for £299 each (just for the outbound leg). I asked if it could be cheaper for 3 of us or could we buy 2 and get one free etc but they weren't interested in even discussing it. Odd really, getting almost anything for it would be increased profit for Virgin.

Sometimes the pricing can be weird - my daughter went in Aug and Economy & PE were about the same price (around £900, which is normal for economy at that time of year) when she booked back end of last year.

In the US we always check-in at DowntownDisney and they won't offer upgrades there. The time we did get it was at MCO.

The new planes are a heck of a lot smaller though, and there's no upper class so I'd be amazed if it's not always full. A fair number of the Disney fanatics on TheDibb won't fly any other way, and some are really pissed about the lack of Upper.

Yeah the pricing does seem to fluctuate a fair bit, the flights have cost a total of £2200, If I was booking the flights today as opposed to upgrading I would have saved about £150-£200.

I've also read conflicting things about getting upgrades at checkin, a couple of people on the Dibb have managed to get it for about £600 for 2 people both ways so around half price. I just didn't want to risk it.
