Just looking for some advice and recommendations. I'm flying out to Perpignan next year from Aberdeen. Flying with AirFrance. The route is ABZ into CDG and then ORY to Perpignan.

I have 2.5 hours from landing at CDG to depature from ORY. Is this enough time? What is the best way to tranfers from Airports? Is there a shuttle bus or anything similar?

2.5 hours is a comfortable single airport transfer time.

It is lunacy to try and transfer from an airport 16 miles north of one of the most congested city centres in the world to one 8 miles south of it. With a fair wind and a fast taxi driver you might make it - but the odds aren't favourable.

There is also the RER B line, with a change at Anthony to Orly or the coach - but you need to allow far, far more time (like 5-6 hours).

Would you try the same time gap with Heathrow and Gatwick?

I'd try and fly through somewhere like Amsterdam.

2.5 hours is not much time if the first flight is delayed (highly likely). The check-in for the departing flight won't be delayed. How about the TGV to Perpingnan?

Sorry guys, I have told you's a complete lie. I actually have 4 hours between flights on the way there and 3.5 hours on the way back. Do we reckon this is enough time? Are there any shuttle coaches between airports? How much would a taxi cost approx? I imagine they won't be cheap in Paris.

What are the flight times?

Air France should transfer your baggage if you follow their procedure. Take the RER, but make sure there are no engineering works.

Over 3 hours should be ok, there are also many transfer services if needed including Air France.

Print out an airport map as CDG is not the easiest place.

I did the same transfer a couple of weeks ago. It should be quite possible to do it in less than 2 hours, possibly 1.5 hours, using rail services. Ticket was about 12 Euros

That's good to hear. Was the rail service simple enough to use?

I did it once on the bus. Was flying from Libya to Mauritania through CDG and Orly.

I made it in 1.5 hours in the middle of the day.

Unfortunately my bags took 4 days to catch up with me. I hear that's quite common flying anywhere with Air France though....

Especially via CDG. I would only transfer there as a last resort.

Can I not opt to collect my bags at CDG and travel to ORY with them? Unfortunately CDG seems the only viable airport to fly into via Aberdeen. I could fly direct from London but that is with RyanAir who I would very much like to avoid and it would also mean I have to get to Stansted.

Just tell them at check in that you will pick up the bag at CDG, shouldn't be any problem.
