The channel tunnel's open & it's economical to make it there...But dumping the car in Paris, in a safe location on NYE (& this is key ->) thats not a million miles away from the action, am I asking for too much keeping in mind I won't be staying the night anywhere?! It's going to be a red bull fuelled blast back in the early hours if I do...

Leaving Folkestone hopefully 2/3pm.

Plenty of attended underground car parks there - just rock up and follow the big 'P'

Why wouldn't you stay overnight? It needn't be expensive.

The underground carparks are staffed, but that just means someone sitting in the warm cubicle near the exit. If your car is pretty ordinary, it will probably be fine, but I wouldn't leave an upmarket car in one overnight. If you have to, then park near one of the few cameras.

Cheers Mark, thanks, scoped out a few close to where I wanna be. Will ask a local to see which would be best, prepared to walk a distance to the main attraction if it means it's easier/safer getting out of Paris.

Budget I'm afraid. Very tight this month. Otherwise I most definitely would!

No problem. I had a few parts (mirror housing, centre cap from alloys, fog light lens) taken from an Audi A8 when the car stayed in the carpark (8th Arr - close to Champs Elysee) for about 10 days while on business. Colleagues report similar problems, but those with Golfs/Renaults seem to be OK. For a few hours you should be fine in a Z4, but do find a space near a camera.

If precise location isn't an issue I would be tempted to go to one of the carparks with the most upmarket cars, like Place Vendome near the Ritz which should ensure that your car doesn't attract attention.

Thats invaluable, thank you...I was thinking of parking at the underground parking at Av Foch leading to the Arc De Triomphe assuming I can get access to it, what do you think?

I have never parked out there, but on the positive side it is quite an expensive area so your car won't stand out. On the negative side, Avenue Foch is a well known street for prostitution, so the car park probably has a night life of its own!

This one is a few hundred metres away from Av. Foch, but in an area where not much happens:
