Anyone been to Iceland to see the Northern Lights? Any advice?

No advice, but I'm off on the 19th Jan to hopefully see them so i'll report back.

Go to geysir, the continental gap thing, and the blue lagoon.

And definitely go and get hotdogs at the docks in Reykjavik.

Great place.

(Oh, and don't order a bottle of wine without checking what it costs...Jesus Christ...)

Thanks Guys, it'll have to wait until another time as the OH wanted somewhere warmer so we're off to Malaysia instead.

Posting this from the Blue Lagoon soaking off the hangover. Snowing heavily now.

As has been mentioned, prices are pretty steep.

However, great place to visit and the fireworks last night were spectacular.

Also, unlike most places in the UK at New Year, it's a chav-free zone. Didn't spot a single plod, or any need for them, all night. The comedy prices probably has a lot to do with that.

I will definitely come back.
