Eurostar trip to Paris - where to stay?
Discussion
Fancy taking the long suffering away for a weekend in Paris for our wedding anniversary this year so was looking for some recommendations on places to stay. Not after The Savoy, but something that's in a nice area and not a Travelodge!
Also some recommendations on what to see aside from the usual Eiffel Tower and Louvre which will be on the list. Have been before many years ago and loved Versaille, but it's a bit far away for a weekend trip from memory and I wasn't overly impressed by the Pompidou centre. Wifey quite likes shows and the theatre so maybe a cabaret or similar?
Thanks in advance.

The wife and myself stayed at the Hotel Lenox in Montparnasse and thought it was a great hotel for the money and good breakfast too. Its got good reviews on Trip Advisor too which i have always used when booking hotels.
The Metro is just at the end of the road and its in a quiet side street.

after much investigation on tripadvisor, i and the girlfriend (we're 18) are staying at the Bailli tour Eiffel in Porte de Versailles over valentines (12th-15th feb). got a rate on www.booking.com much cheaper than the hotel was offering - 3 nights 300 quid. looks like a nice hotel, when you going? i'll let you know how it is if you're going after february.

Thanks for the feedback - forgot about Trip Advisor! Have done Belgium before several years ago (Bruges and Brussels) and the wife loves galleries so Paris seems like a sensible choice! Has anyone been to the Moulin Rouge? Worth a visit or just a tourist trap?
Don't go to the Moulin Rouge unless you just want to say you've done it, it's dated, crowded and expensive. If you really want to see a good show go to the Crazy Horse (more risque) or the Lido (more professional).Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
