I just got back from a week in Israel and I would heartily recommend it as a destination. I was a bit dubious about going, but I have to say I loved the trip. Weather was warm and sunny - enough for the kids to play on the beach most days. The restaurants and food were excellent and all the locals we met very friendly. I spent a couple of days in Jerusalem which I have to say is absolutely amazing - so much history and religion packed into one place. If you have any interest in the world religions, this is place to go.

No issues security wise in Tel Aviv where we based ourselves. A couple of low cost carriers fly there now, so it can be a pretty budget trip. So, I would definitely recommend it as a destination.

Spent a year here when I was 29: http://www.aora-solar.com/var/2310/79660-Samar_aer...

The place had a reputation as being a hippy kibbutz, and that reputation was well founded. hehe

Hated Tel Aviv mind, thought it was a horrible city the few weeks I was there, Jerusalem was an experience but to be honest I was out in the zone from being at Samar for so long. Eilat was another ghastly place although we got on alright with the Bedouins who better than the locals/tourists as they knew where the best parties were. smile

I'll always look back kindly at my time in Israel.
