Me and the wife are planning to do a fly drive in August in Canada. We are looking at doing the eastern side flying into Toronto.

Has anyone done anything like this and could give us any suggestion, must see places and good driving roads etc. We/me are hoping to do it in a yank mobile like a mustang or corvette.

Thanks

Adam

With rental cars, I have never been offered a sporty number for rent in canada - you might get a dodge charger, but it will probably be the V6 version. Some rental places categorise chrysler sebring convertible in the same group as mustang convertible, thus booking one would be a high risk strategy as the sebring is a horrid car and they may have run out of 'stangs (if they ever had any!)

I think hertz ony do their "adrenaline collection" in the US - so you might be better to fly to states and pick up rental there.

I did once get upgraded to a dodge Durango, packing a woofling V8, which was fun to a degree, And I also had some fum in a U-haul rental truck, with a V8 and the softest suspension you could imagine in a truck!

Avis do v8 mustangs - I booked one in Vancouver for a couple of days as part of a much wider trip. Our route was:

Toronto, niagara, Toronto. Pick car up and 4 day drive to Sudbury, sault ste marie, marathon, thunder bay. Then flew to Calgary, jasper (via ice fields parkway), kamloops, whistler, Vancouver, Victoria, Vancouver, flew back to Toronto then home (split the flight because we were travelling with small kids).

The four day run was enjoyable but not out of this world, some good lakeside trip north of Toronto and of course south to niagara (but not worth staying too long as the place itself ain't great).

For preference I would say fly into calgary and do the Rockies or Vancouver and do whistler / Victoria - better driving IMHO.
