Looking at booking a 2 week fly-drive on the West Coast (LA, San Fran and Vegas) for mid-April. Most sources say that the weather is unpredictable. Should I let this put me off? Anyone does a similar trip on April?

Thanks!

Weather will be great...been there in April/May many times. You may want to take a sweater/jacket for San Francisco. It can be lovely and warm, or a bit chilly too.
Depends whereabouts in LA you will be. The coastal areas like Malibu, Santa Monica, or a bit further south like Venice, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa, Redondo etc can be cooler some days, but on the whole it will still be warm. You don't have to drive far inland for it to get hotter.
As for Vegas it will be hot. Check out the outdoor part of Rhumbar at the Mirage for a great nighttime atmosphere...mojitos, cigars and Cuban music, all with the bright lights behind you.
Enjoy.smile

Bear in mind April is one of Vegas' busiest months so it would be advisable to book ahead.

Some of the high passes will still be shut by snow then so you may have to take that into account when planning your route. We went in June last year and the Tioga Pass at Yosemite was still shut, the Sonora Pass had only just opened again.
