Lake Garda and Venice hotel recommendations?
Discussion
Hello,
Me and my fiancé are heading to Lake Garda & Venice this Easter time, the trip is for two reasons to check out our wedding venue (Lake Garda) and and a quick trip to Venice. We plan to turn this Mon-Fri trip into our summer holiday this year.
Im going to hire a car for 5 days, we need to visit Lake Garda and Venice in 5 days (4 nights) so i'm looking to hotel recommendations near the south end of Lake Garda and near Venice. We will have a car, I understand we cannot drive into Venice so maybe it would be best to stay just outside Venice and travel in?
Anyone have any hotels in either location they can recommend?
Cheers
Matt

Massive multi storey. Walk outside and catch the Water Bus "into town" Looks like 21 euro per 24 hrs.
Lake Garda is lovely but all my recommendations are for Riva at the Northern Tip so not much use for you.
You can stay on the other side of the lido with a car and catch the water buses across - A lovely way to approach Venice I think.
There are loads of hotels in Riva Del Garda (I stayed in a B&B
) or Bardolino (probably other places), but don't underestimate how big Garda is - I drove around it once, thinking it would take me a couple of hours, but it was about 100 miles the way I went!

The other half and I stayed at Hotel Splendid in Limone, though this may be too far out to make getting to Venice convenient. Great food though!
I'd personally be looking at hotels in Malcesine which should save you at least an hour trying to get to Venice by car. We both fell in love with Malcesine since it seemed to have a lot more going for it and felt more like a real town. The castle offers some fantastic views of the town below and the cable car is right on your doorstep too.

Hotel Regina Adelaide in Garda is very nice and has a secure car park (usually with some nice cars in) if youre driving. http://www.regina-adelaide.it/en/benvenuto.en.htm
Restaurant is great, all locally sourced food and they do 7 or 8 course meals. Right next to the promenade and town centre.
We booked direct with the hotel when we went a couple of years back.
