...Work is quiet and I've been spending my afternoon dreaming about motoring pilgrimages and experiences. For example, taking my seven to Mazda Raceway and having an epic US tour, or going to America and hiring/buying some old V8 Americana. There are all sorts of practical reasons why I shouldn't, not to mention that Mazda Raceway (Laguna Seca) is basically never opened for trackdays, but still I read and read about shipping rates, customs laws etc- Maybe I have to do it?
So what epic tours have you done? what do you regret not doing? what would you have done differently?
Inspire me PH!

I bet all of these tours will have one thing in common: no kids!

Nothing exciting, just a Dodge Caliber. Three weeks and 3000 miles in anything else was just too expensive . It was pretty good actually. Comical gearbox but big practical boot.

I'm looking to do similar around Southern Utah in a couple of years but will get a SUV.

Did 2 weeks going up one side of Scotland then down the other, + a few days in the Lakes, + a day in the Dales. It was excellent. All in a PH-unfriendly diesel estate with a passenger completely uninterested in cars and motoring but it was chuffing great nonetheless.

Crap pics, not in any order:

Ullapool.

A quarry we got a bit stuck in:

I was at Laguna Seca this year, happened to be in Monterey for the (cycling) Tour of California and decided to go up by Laguna Seca before driving to LA. There was a Ferrari trackday which had just ended when we got there but we had no problems in ng in and moseying around the infield. Got chatting to some very nice people and their amazing race cars. Hope to go back in August for Pebble Beach Concourse and the week of events around Monterey and Carmel.

Mont Ventoux
From Uzes to St Paul de Vence then a day in Monaco before heading up Col de Torini into Italy
Stayed at Lingotto and I the City before heading back to France via Mont Blanc Tunnel, Geneva and some great roads from the lake into France (Jura)

Brilliant tour in a great car

The OH and I drove the Caterham from Houston to San Francisco via various wiggly routes over 3.5 weeks and 4000 miles in the company of 40 or so other 7s and 7-alikes in 2005. A fantastic trip (massive thanks to the organisers!).

Drove the 7 solo to Chamonix in summer 2010 to meet up with some outdoorsy mates for a week in the Alps and did a great day's drive over 4 passes and 3 countries on one of the days. Cracking fun belting up the Grand and Petit St Bernard passes with motorcyclists. The drive home was pretty tough though - 745 miles in one day from Chamonix to Bath, in the Caterham obviously, avoiding motorways until Reims.

LA to Denver via Arizona and Utah in mustang convertible.
Manchester to Chamonix in a Corsa
Milan to Monaco in a Punto.
Manchester to Gambia in a Mark 2 Golf.
