Anyone been to Kalkan in Turkey?
Discussion
We are looking to go out there in July, as 2 families with young kids in a big villa.
It looks lovely, but internet photos and stories can lie (believe out or not
).
Any suggestions on which area to stay, good restaurants/ drinking establishments, and what there is locally to see?
We will be using flights from Edinburgh to Dalaman with Easyjet because of the times, although keeping fingers crossed that they have a sale soon as it is £400PP at the moment.

Been every year for the last six years, very nice town with lots of rooftop restaurants. Cobbled streets and upmarket shops, think of Clovelly with sun! No tourist tat shops and no Chavs that i have ever seen. There is a very pretty harbour with pavement side bars etc for a sundowner. Its quite a classy resort and a world away from Fethiye and Olu Deniz. The only pain is the transfer there, i have never done it in less than two hours. Hope that helps?
Not been to Kalkan myself (had to google map it!) Looks like a beast of a transfer if my experience of Dalaman > Marmaris is anything to go by.
It might be worth a look on the Quidco website buddy as I noticed easyjet have money off discounts if you go via Quidco to their site.
If you are needing transfers, I recommend www.a2btransfers.com - used their service twice in Turkey and in Gran Canaria.

Stayed at www.villayar.com last year, it's own by a PHer and we had a great time. I love Turkey as it is and this place made it even more special.
The town is nice with lots of restaurants - you won't go hungry. Fair bit of history to see in the local area and Kas is worth a visit too.
Hired a car from Dalaman and drove to Kalkan, took us about 2 hours I seem to remember. If the roadworks are finished perhaps quicker.
Will definitely go again one day.

Sounds like we are onto a winner. Villayar looks lovely, but we really need 4 bedrooms.
Supposedly 'the roadworks' are finished, and there is now a big tunnel which takes half an hour off the transfer time. We can easily handle 90 minutes transfer, in order to reach a week in luxury!

Pretty sure Yar does have 4 bedrooms - can't quite remember, there were only 3 of us so we didn't use all the rooms, but it certainyl sleeps 8.Supposedly 'the roadworks' are finished, and there is now a big tunnel which takes half an hour off the transfer time. Tunnel is certainly open, we used it - it's the roadworks the Kalkan side I was thinking of.
