MikeLove Vegas - honest place.
Walk the strip, go in every big casino, have a drink in each, don't gamble - I know I know but you'll lose, you just will, everyone does - check the decor, extraordinary artworks, architecture and grandeur. You can take a few days doing this.
Get an elevated room overlooking the strip.
Search the net for deals.
Do Bellagio fountains, Stratosphere rides, Grand Canyon, Rent a supercar with the money you didn't lose gambling, do the city centre art thing, check the automobile collections out (can't remember where), eat yourself stupid.

My ethos exactly cheddar, not a gambler either.
Supercar
now that's worth spending on
The Lambo's and Ferrari's are expensive but......Supercar
now that's worth spending on
You can circumvent the expense and do the Hertz Adrenaline or Fun collections and rent a Mustang GT/Chevy Camaro etc starting around $500 per week inclusive.
Shop around, sometimes you key in dates and vehicles and it's half the price than it was the day before, odd but it happens.
My hint would be to go this week - http://www.adultentertainmentexpo.com/
I was there last week on business. The only room I could get was in the Super8 on Koval. If you're on a budget then it's OK and 10min walk from the strip.

Go and have yourself some fun but as Melchett says, get there early!Get a hotel with a monorail station and you can buy 1,2 or 3 day tickets and it is the cheapest way of getting around. We got 2 x 3 day passes for $56. You can sign on at casinos and get a card with $10 to use on some slots like the Wynn.
Drop in at the 'Circle Bar' at Carnival court with live music and bar tenders with flair is deffo worth going to.

Go and have yourself some fun but as Melchett says, get there early!I hated the place but we had a room in the Bellagio overlooking the fountains which made up for it. Wynn's is supposed to be the best hotel in Vegas.
Don't bother with the pirate show outside the Treasure Island Hotel - it makes the soaps look well acted.
Get a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon
Get the bus to Freemont Street - if your lucky you will get the mad bus driver we had!
Don't take any of the cards given out on the strip.
If you're walking anywhere on the strip it WILL take longer than you think!

To give you an idea...
WW2 Package: 50 shots Thompson, 25shots MP40 and 20 shots Pistol - $120 (Includes targets)
Coalition Package: M249 SAW, M4, M9 Pistol, Targets - $130
OR
Vegas VIP Package:
75 shots on 7 Machine Guns
20 shots on 7 Handguns
10 shots on 7 Semi Auto Rifles!
For...$777
If you don't like guns you have:
Red Rock Canyon (20/30min drive from Strip)
ATV in Valley of Fire (We had a good Groupon Deal for this)
Boat hire on Lake Mead.

Agree with Pirate show - cack.
Agree with helicopter trip.
Freemont St well worth a visit - there is a discount village near there (Premium Outlets North) which is worth a look (if you want cheap clothes, shoes bags etc)- I bought loads of golf clothes etc. Dirt cheap.
Card people DO get a bit annoying.
Very very true re journey times - we left Bellagio and thought we would walk to Caesars Palace (basically next door) took 40 minutes!
Had a great Steak in Outback Restaurant - few of them around - good value.

I shot a Desert eagle and an AK47
Our helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon got cancelled so I hired a Corvette (90s Z06)the guy at the car hire place kept offering me the 360 spyder with nasty polished alloys and the Elise, he just didn`t get it that I wanted an American car because I was in America!!!!!!!!!!!
(the car hire place was Dreamcars I think on the strip, I was in a hurry so I`m sure you will find better / cheaper)
I'm in Vegas this week.
There's plenty of PH worthy things to do in town.
A 'Cars and Coffee' meet out in a suburban parking lot on a Saturday morning where all the local interesting cars turn up (much like a PH Meet).
A Car Museum at the Imperial Palace.
An Atomic Testing Museum (which is my task for today)
The Neon Boneyard
Several venues selling decent beer (although some are pricey outside of Happy Hours)
Now the Hoover Dam is bypassed by a bridge you can easily walk over it. An impressive structure. I hiked to it along the old abandoned railway line and tunnels from the Lake Mead national park.
Also been up in the Red Rock Canyon in a snow storm. The scenic drive also has some corners to make up for the dull straight roads around town.
As for gambling, I read up on basic blackjack strategy and the rules of craps and practiced on my computer. I seem to know more about the games than most of the other players. Just about ahead for the week, but there's plenty of time yet, but watch out for the free booze, after a couple of hours play I'm wrecked
