Not parked at Gatwick before, always take the train.

However on this occasion, due to stupid train times, landing at 7:40pm means I can't get home (200 miles away) by train till a few minutes short of 5am..!!

So car it is. Any parking tips? (Three day trip).

Gatwick's own Long Stay parking is cheap enough, so I'd just use that personally, if you're booking far enough in advance.

We're going away for 4 days in March, and it was going to cost us £22 or something like that. This, importantly, allows you to park your car and take your keys with you.

We didn't book it in the end though, as we're getting a lift.

I've used Gatwick Airparks when it was known by a tri-initial name that escapes me and it was very good with effective transfers. We used the hotel at the end of the Gatwick airport tunnel one year as it came with free parking which was also Airparks.

I always use the short stay parking at Gatwick as it's only a short walk to departures. Book via the airports website and it's actually not that expensive.

Be careful to check where the car park is before booking, the cheapest one is miles away from the airport and you leave your keys with them and they park your car for you.

I didn't like the idea of that and my dad did it by accident last year so when we went away last month for a few years we went for the next one up (price wise) it was only a couple of £ more and was really close, much better.

Meteor Meet & Greet have been recommended to me....haven't used them yet but they look/sound good and their rates are certainly competitive.

I have been very involved in this industry, though I have not been for the last few months so i'm neutral now!

Use one of the following car parks and no other:

- Short Stay North
- Short Stay South
- Long Stay North
- Long Stay South

If you book into any other car park, your car will be moved and parked for you. This is a bad thing, and can be very bad indeed if you had heard the stoties I have about even 'reputable' companies.

Tips:

- book online, you get raped at the gate
- consider parking in Short stay south even if you fly as it's right next to the terminal, easy to drive to and you can just jump on the shuttle between terminals
- book in advance as they yield manage the price like airlines
- book direct with the airport as they don't charge for cancellation (if you avoid supersaver).

BCP

Hotel at the end of tunnel is Gatwick Hilton.

I always use the Gatwick long stay - its just not worth faffing around with the off site operators (we used to do it). I was pleasantly surprised early this month when I booked for 7 days and was only charge £26 extra for picking up the car 4 days late. Not bad at all

It is either best or cheapest and I used the best...the short stay after taking advice on here and it was fine, parked a few yards from the terminal entrance door too.
