Following a very good year at work last year I am lucky enough to have been rewarded with a trip for Mrs HH and I to the Victoria falls in Zambia, staying here http://www.royal-livingstone-hotel.com/.

Does anyone have any experiences/tips/thoughts they would like to share as to what we can get up to when we're down there?

I went 15yrs ago - well, more Zimbabwe than Zambia. But took in the Falls.

Bungee jumping. White water rafting. Lake Kariba was pretty cool. Safari around there was epic (far better than the Kruger IMO). Outside of that sort of thing I think it's a place to just chill out.

(15yrs is a long time ago in Africa though).

Been twice to Victoria Falls, once by air, once by road (from London).

I would guarantee the biggest problem outside the hotel grounds will be touts - probably hundreds - all wanting money or to sell you something.

Decide how you're going to deal with them - hopefully you are typical PH build 6ft 6 and 18 stone.

Thanks for the responses chaps, some good ideas. Touts don't bother me in the slightest, learnt how to deal with them comfortably many moons back smile

We were there a couple of years ago for 2-3 days, at the start of a trip before driving up through Malawi and Tanzania to Nairobi.

The outside deck at the hotel is right by the Zambezi and a great place to watch the sun go down. The puff of smoke in the distance is Victoria Falls.

We went swimming in the Devil's Pool at the top of the falls. A trip leaves by boat from the hotel grounds. Can include a meal and drinky under canvas.

Walking with Lions was a bit of a highlight.

Lion Encounter

Evening riverboat trip was relaxing and we saw lots of game - hippos, elephants, crocodiles, birds, etc. Cost was about $40 including all you can drink and all you can eat buffet.

Went on a walking Safari to see rhinos and a game drive booked through these people, all good.
