EDIT: Northampton, Lincoln & Newark are the choosen ones this time. Thanks

Hi there,

I am thinking to spend a couple of days around East Mid England. Which cities do you think are the most beautiful and worthy to take a round at??

Lincoln
Newark-on-Trent
Peterborough
Northampton
Bedford
¿others little ones?

(Cambridge and York are excluded)

Thanks and sorry for my English!

The only one on that list worth a visit is Lincoln and its cathedral / old town. Bedford's not bad, but very small. But Northampton is just a scabby market town and Newark and Peterborough are both holes.

Why not Cambridge?

if your in east midlands then nottingham could be worth a look, lots to see and do in the city centre.

also northampton and bedford are very random and abit of a distance choices. much more interesting places that are only extra 30 minutes on a train

I have been in Nottingham.

I have thought in Stoke Bruerne, but I am not sure. I have to say that I have car.

From Glasgow (looking at your profile)

Lincoln, ( fast train to Newark, slow train to Lincoln).

Lincoln
Newark-on-Trent Lovely small Market Town, I used to work there, not much to do
Peterborough Nice Church, good for an emergency passport, as the office is there...otherwise not really
Northampton No ... unless you want cheap bespoke shoes from the factory shops
Bedford I live 20 minutes from here, and have been once (been here 12 years) draw your own conclusion.
¿others little ones?

Cambridge in my opinion would be a better tourist destination, fast train to Peterborough' slow to Cambs.

Better options, in my opinion....include York, Newcastle, London, Leeds (quite cosmopolitan these days)....if you are driving, most of North Yorks, or Derbyshire.

Lincoln is a good call, go history with the museum & castle, but plenty of nightlife & restaurants. The University there has livened things up a lot.
