Looking at a coach trip round Transylvania, as have done it before and was fascinating and stunningly scenic. Found one that visits different areas this time and one day seems to be a trip up the northern end of the transfagarasan highway of top gear fame. Only thing is how frustrating is it going to be plodding up a great driving road on a coach!!

Would be extremely frustrating but on the plus side, it looked extremely picturesque when the TG boys went on it.

Probably enjoy it simply for the views and the engineering rather than as a petrolhead.

I've driven over the whole length, not that good a road.

I personally wouldn't bother driving it myself or riding in a coach, much better mountain passes closer to home.

The northern part is a good road...after you get past the best bit and through the tunnel heading south it's frankly rubbish- very very slow loads of potholes etc. Not much to do their except drive and eat local corn on the cob- but enjoy! If looking for somewhere to stay there is a hotel on the left not too long after the tunnel and lake which is very cheap and clean. We had a log cabin with bed for 20 euros a night.
