In Bruges for 4 days. Where else?

In Bruges for a long weekend (4 full days). Been before and love the place but fancy trying another nearby town or city? Any recommendations? No more than an hour on the train from Bruges. Was thinking Antwerp or Brussels.

Gent is also very nice. Damme is just up the road, and also worth a visit.

Quite a few good roads - I occasionally do a full day run round the WWI sites finishing in Ieper for the Last Post. PM me if you want.

Are you in a car? (saw your question about the train). TRain services are very good (and not expensive).

Another vote for Ghent, been twice now.

Pop out to Ostend (Oostende) on the coast. Lovely to walk around - nice sandy beach if it's warm, short pier, large marina and a reasonable town. Best of all are the fish restaurants though

You could go for a paddle in Blankenberge, and there is a great museum in brussels, its all about Herge and TinTin
