Anyone been? We are staying a place called lady Hamilton resort and spa. Reviews look good.

What activities etc are there to do out with the resort?

I went in October and had a wonderful time.

Like above, if you go to any markets watch your belongings it's free game.

You will get asked if you want to buy any home grown products for smoking A LOT. Just politely say you are not interested and they will leave you alone. If you are interested you won't go short. Just don't get caught. It is illegal.

We went on a few day excursions and my favourite was the Bob Marley tour to his birth place and Mausoleum. It's an incredible journey on an old bus which you wind up a mountain side to 4,000ft above sea level to Bob's village of birth. The views, the sights and the experience is amazing.

This is also the only place you can legally smoke the green stuff in Jamaica and they actually sell it on site of his home through a hole in the wall. It's all very odd.

We also went to Dolphin Cove and Dunns River Falls.

Dunns River was way to busy when we went as it was a school day out but was still nice and very refreshing.

Dolphin Cove was great with the shark and dolphin shows and lots of random wildlife about. We saw snakes, iguanas, turtles and more when walking through the tree section to the beautiful beach.

When at the beach, go see Junior Weston who will chop you a coconut down and pop a straw in for you for a dollar. Real nice guy and he will give you a true sense of the Jamaica vibe.

Also at Dolphin Cove you get to drive a speed boat to the base of Dunn River falls as part of your entrance fee. DO IT! They are f*cking quick and its great fun chopping across the clear ocean seeing the fish all move out the way.

Just don't take boat number 4 as the steering broke as I entered the Pier area and had to crash into the pier to stop. Their instructions, not my choice!

Just make sure you get out and about, some of my best memories was just driving about, you see the most incredible sights. Everyone is together, you will se a house made of marble with pillars and four BMW's on the drive and next door is a family living in a shipping container with windows cut out with a goat tied to the fence.

I have attached a few pics for you to get the idea.

Dan

First stop was here for a Red Stripe after some tool on our bus forgot his suitcase. A blessing though as the Jerk Chicken was amazing.

The beach in the evening, it was always this quiet.

Junior Westons spot at Dolphin Cove

Not everyday you see a man massaging a shark.

Speedboat is free at Dolphin Cove.

This Pirate at Dolphin Cove got to cocky with the sharks. He now has a leg missing.

Our ride to Bob Marleys resting place.

4,000ft up, yes we did drive up those gravel roads...

Jerk Chicken stop on the way back.

That famous bobsled.

If you want to know anymore let me know.

Thanks Dan- great tips. Infact, this has been better than scouring through pages upon pages of garbage on tripadvisor.

Looking forward to getting back to the carribean. We've been to Mexico twice and Dominican Rep before so- just like Dominican, Jamaica is safe enough but keep your wits about you is important. Seems like its more petty theft we need to look out for more than anything. The excursion- dolphin cove in particular looks great.

Looking forward to chilling out with a rum and coke and red stripe.... It's absolute must since I work for red stripe!

Pics look great, I'm sure your advice will stand us in good sted.
