Anyone tried the DFDS service Dover-Calais? We are about to book our road-trip crossing for later in the year and wondered what they are like versus P&O?

Used them a month or 6 weeks ago.

The service seemed very similar to previous P&O services. You drive on, park up, go and get ripped off for breakfast, go outside for a blow of fresh air, with the smokers, and then back to the car to drive off.

I'd just go with the best deal you can find if I was you.

Dunno if you're set on Calais- I've used DFDS/Norfolkline to Dunkerque a couple of times, they've been the cheapest when I've gone away for longer than just a day trip. Their ships were nicer than P&O up until recently, but P&O have 2 new Calais ferries that are up to the standard of the DFDS ones now (Spirit of France/Britain). One thing I preferred with DFDS is they only take freight and car bookings, as far as I remember they don't take coach trips so you don't have massive groups of loud teens etc running around. They're also the only ferry company out of Dunkerque, so it's not too busy at the port and loading has been quick when I've travelled. The crossing is 1/2hr longer than P&O Calais though. The DFDS/LD lines ship(s) on the Calais route are smaller than the new P&0 ones, so possibly not quite as nice a trip.

Been looking also for a trip we're doing in Sept and DFDS were cheapest return when searched thru' a search engine....£58 but can't remember if time were suitable.Obviously costs more at "peak" times.
We always used Sea France but alas they are no longer trading.
