Going to Stockholm middle of June and have about 3 days available before joining a boat. I've heard a kayaking trip is a must bit what else should I see ? Whistle stop tour of the city ?

The old town part of the City is well worth a walk around. Night life is good but be prepared to pay through the nose for booze - makes London prices seem cheap. There are loads of museums if that's your thing.

Sorry I can't be of more help - my few days there consisted of either drinking a lot or being hungover a lot, so didn't do much touristy stuff.

All I did while over there was eat & drink, rarely ventured out of Stureplan!
Can recommend Riche, East, Spy Bar, Rose, Sturehof.
Apparently a lot of outdoorsy places open just for the warm season, can't help you with any I'm afraid as I went in Feb.

Story Hotel is were I stayed and was very nice, convenient for rolling back home after a heavy night in Stureplan! Cool bar too.

Oh and the food market at Ostermalms Saluhall was pleasant, good for a lazy sunday brunch.

If you are a foody take a look at the markets as they are fantastic. Worth a trip out to Vaxholm on the coast as its a lovely little town. It is worth making most of some of the lunchtime set menus which actually make eating out quite affordable as erestuarants in the evening are quite expensive. If you can just spend a day walking around and getting lost as you get a real feel for the city!

The old town is great. If you want to go out the Sodermalm area is the place to go. www.thelocal.se is a Swedish newspaper in English which will have some recommedations. The gallery section called bet of the weekend is worth s look smile Kaknastornet tower has the best views over Stockholm.

Stockholm is a beautiful city. Have fun.

This is somewhere I've considered going for my upcoming 40th.

Has anyone been recently and if so how much are drinks.

(I went to Norway a few years back & that was 7-8 quid a beer)

And another vote for the old town - beautiful and interesting. Lots of interesting museums, shops, galleries and some great ice cream parlours!

If you are into photography there is the Fotografiska and for architecture (where to stop?) the Drottingholm Palace is a stand out.

Safest feeling city I've ever been to as well.
