Hi all

I'm planning a 2 night break in Paris for my gf's 30th & wondered if there's anywhere you'd recommend. Would like to stay somewhere central close to the touristy bits & want something pretty luxurious (4* plus). Don't mind paying a bit more for it but not mega money.

Also, are there any areas that are best to avoid in terms of hotel location?

Search facility is down at the moment & I have looked through a lot of previous threads but there isn't much on Paris.

Thanks, Andy

I like Hotel du Louvre. Right next to the Louvre and can easily walk to Notre Dame, Left Bank, Musee d'Orsay. Champs d'elysee is about a 20 minute walk. Eiffel tower maybe half an hour. Paris is easy to walk about.

I stayed there once but couldn't sleep.
The woman in the next room was a real Mona.

Radisson Blu Hotel Champs Elysees, Paris
78 Bis, Avenue Marceau, Paris, 75008

Stayed here before when I took the Mrs for New Year. 30 secs walk from Champs Elysees & Arc De Triomphe and had a view of the Eiffel Tower from our top floor room.

Perfect location. Great hotel. Great staff.

I would also recommend Hotel du Louvre - it's a nice, centrally located hotel, but it is massively expensive - so much so, that my clients can't/won't stomach the cost anymore. I'm working in Paris next week and my travel agent was quoted a 'corp. rate' E575.00 per night.
My fallback is the Pullman Paris at Montparnasse (latterly was Le Meridien). This one has a very swanky bar and restaurant, but the rooms are pretty average for around E375.00 per night - good location though.

Christ on a bike! Never paid more than €200 a night, but then I always go for late deals.
Normally do breakfast in one of the cafes and plenty of bars around.
Got stung €40 for 2 cocktails in there but to be honest, they were massive and enough to get pissed on.

I took HID to Paris for her 30th and stayed here. Really nice & not too pricey. Good location as you will walk everywhere in Paris.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, much appreciated.

Hotel du Louvre does look nice but having checked it out, it's probably a little OTT money wise. I had noticed the Keppler so that is an option. Good to know that some have stayed there and recommend it.

I've just booked a deluxe room here - http://www.hoteldesers.com/index.php?lng=en just off the Champs-Elysees.
Booked via hotels.com and quidco so got a good deal as well as 12% cash back.
I'm heading out for 2 nights over the August bank holiday, just need to find places to eat now.

If you're looking for somewhere memorable to eat, you could try Pershing Hall - amazing courtyard with a wall garden. Or if you want a view, how about Georges at the top of the Pompidou Centre? Try and get there for sunset.

Novotel Eiffel branch. Quite luxurious and get b/fast included for the superb fresh bread. As the name indicates its a stones throw from the eiffel tower, quick walk to arc de triomph/champs elysees. Tube/bus ride from louvre and notre dam/ l'opera and shopping streets. Reasonable room rates. Preffered hotel of quite a few airline crews whilst I was there.

My favourite is the Ascott Arc De Triomphe.

Modern and huge rooms for Paris with lots of style.

If you want something more traditional, the Balzac, just off the Champs Elysee is lovely, but the rooms are a bit on the compact size (which is pretty standard for Paris).
