Romantic meal/hotel

My missus is 30 at the end of July and I would like to take her away on 27th/28th July for the night for a nice meal and stay over.
We recently went to York and she really liked it so I was thinking of the Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa, York.
Anyone got any recommendations for a nice hotel and restaurant?? Happy to travel 3 hours maximum from north Manchester and budget is up-to £500 for the two of us.
