Leave a job to the other half - watch it get fked up!

We're off on holiday on Friday - first one in some time abroad.

Other half spotted that daughter passport expired a couple of weeks ago. Sent off with the Royal Mail Check and Send service, which has a guide of 2 weeks ago (which is not guaranteed). Quite why she did not go do something more definite is beyond me.

Passport office tell us that it's due to come back to us on the 9th. (Monday).

Anyone experienced this? Can we upgrade the appointment to a same day? Help!

(I've tried the passport office and someone might call me back within 24 hours. Clock is ticking...).

Can't change the holiday - so back up option is we go leaving daughter with Grandparents - (not happy at all with this). I then get a 2AM flight back on the Tuesday to Gatwick, get a train to Luton, meet my parents at Lunchtime and get an afternoon flight back - cost circa £400 - + a day out of the holiday, and wiped out the next.

Any other idea's?

I have to wait for a callback to see if we are eligible. Can't see why we would not be - but you never know.
