Hello, Planning an holiday to Spain in September.

This might seem a silly question but is it worth me changing all my holiday spending money into Euros? or can i just pay on my Visa debit card same as in the UK?

If i can use my card there how do t hey work out the exchange rate?

Sorry for a dumb question.

It depends on your bank.

What about all the items you won't be paying on your card?

ask your bank if you can use it in Spain and tell them when you're going so they don't block the card because of unusual spending patterns. I would have thought a Visa debit would be fine for ATMs and direct payments so you should be able to withdraw cash once you're there.

I'm just back from Spain. I took euros with me which I ordered from Travelex.com and picked up at the airport. They offered the best rate I could find.

I also used my Halifax visa debit to take out cash. They charged me £1.50 per withdrawal or transaction and while the rate they gave me wasn't as good as the Travelex rate there wasn't much in it.
