Never used a plane that thinks allocated seats and in flight movies are optional before! Taking 4 kids with wife to Cyprus (age 16, 11, 8, 5)

Ez jet are by far the cheapest but will speedy boarding ensure we all sit together.... It seemed too cheap an option! Doesn't everyone Just pay the extra 20 pound???

When I've flown Easyjet most people have not done SpeedyBoarding, so you should be OK.

If you are smart you can avoid the speedy boarding charge, nip off to the loo just before you board, that way you'll be separated from the family, lots of seat will be taken and you'll be the opposite end of the plane, job done biggrin

Seriously though, you'll likely be OK, we flew EZ for the first time last year, managed to sit together (although just 3 of us). Lots of spaces as long as you don't saunter up at the last minute. Also, more leg room and better seats than some of the other airlines I could name.

You have kids under 10 IIRC they will automatically put you in the speedy boarding queue.

You sound like you are in for a surprise.

"Doesn't everyone just pay the extra 20 pound???" - Are you joking? These flights are meant to be dirt cheap.. £20 is a LOT relatively speaking and barely anyone pays it. To be honest, I always look in the priority boarding queue and think "mugs", although I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

Its similar to asking whether the average Joe would you pay £2 extra for priority boarding for the bus into town. Hardly anyone would.

For the record, I'm a flyer who rarely flies on planes where allocated seating is not an additional extra, and as for inflight entertainment.. whats that? hehe

Don't be fooled by the speedy boarding, in my experience this simply means that you are called first and are able to get on to the shuttle bus - you are then squashed in place by the 'Non' speedy boarding people who are then able to get off the bus first and on to the plane before you!

For at least a year now, the buses have a separate speedy boarding section at the front for exactly that reason.

The first thing they say for boarding is old or families, and then speedy boarders.

So don't worry - you'll sit together smile

They had this in Munich a couple of weeks ago. They let all the speedy boarders off the bus first who went to the front steps. I was one of the next off, went to the back and got an exit seat... Just try and get to the front of the queue if the flight looks busy!

There are some airports where this happens, but the normal procedure is to rope off the SB part of the bus to give priority to the folk who've paid...

That said, I've never bother with SB and don't really understood the fixation with allocated seats - understandable for families of course, but I'd rather choose where to sit/ who not to have to sit by when not travelling as a multiple of three!

Speedy boarding doesn't give allocated seats - it simply allows you on the plane first, giving you a greater range of free seats.

With kids you should be fine and allowed on before the other passengers - well from the UK anyway.

Doesn't always happen from all the destinations coming home though.....some just board the speedy boarders and then it's
a bit of a free for all.

OK....sounds like we'll be ok with speedy boarding.

Me and wifey arent fussed where we sit but the 3 youngest (first flight) will not want to be sat with strangers while hurtling into the air for the first time.

If you don't get on the plane in time to get seats together, you should be able to ask the attendants to help move people around. Alternatively get 2 speedy passes for the kids and get them to save you a place!
