Turkey - Jabs?
Discussion
Quick advice needed. Off to Turkey (Marmaris) and I'm wondering if vaccinations are needed. Quick search of the net doesn't seem to be definitive, and before giving any advice the GP has given me a form to fill in regarding my medical history and i have no idea what vaccinations I had growing up - and neither do my parents (helpful eh!)
I'm not overly worried, and can't imagine there's anything i need but any advice welcome!
Thanks,
Rob

We fill in a form, pass it to the GP Receptionist. A GP checks your medical history and decides what, if any, vacs you need. Receptionist then phones and makes an appointment for you with the nurse to get said jabs. Job done!I'm not overly worried, and can't imagine there's anything i need but any advice welcome!

I would be most concerned about heat stroke. Currently a mini heat wave here. 42degs by midday and then cooling nicely in the evenings.
You must get a brimmed hat, and a p20 or high factor cream. Avoid sitting out midday full sun.
As it does not get dark till 8pm sittingout 3pm 7pm still gives you plenty of sun.
To avoid common heat rash keep dipping in pool, sea or shower to lower the body temp.
All common sense I know but we have all been caught out.

Thanks chaps. I went and got the obvious ones from Nomad travel clinic after work one day just because it was easier to get it done then to keep thinking about it! Conscious of the heat so will be taking a hat etc.
The comment about blackpool in the sun made me laugh - to be honest we're going to a resort with the intention of doing very little but read/listen to the ipod/have a swim/sleep so I was in no way offended! Hopefully I can get a stick of rock

Rob F - if your intention was just laze in the sun, you would have been better going 3 miles further up to Icmeler - much quieter there - discos have to "go quiet" at midnight. Much cleaner than Marmaris - you can get a Dolmus (bus) into Marmaris every few minutes or get a water taxi. Maybe worth a wee visit when you're there! If so, visit the Sportsman's Bar or the Wayfayrers Restuarant - both excellent.
