Use London Travel card or park car at Wimbledon?
Discussion
We're traveling from Stratford upon Avon to Wimbledon tomorrow (Saturday) morning to watch some Olympic tennis.
With the tennis tickets arrived four London Travelcards.
I'd planned to leave the car at somewhere like Uxbridge and get the tube to Wimbledon (Southfields station). It looks like that tube journey will take over an hour though. Assume we'll still have to pay a fortune for all day parking.
My Google Fu isn't great. Not sure what the best option is. Has anyone been to the Olympic tennis- is there lots of parking available, like at normal Wimbledon? Think that might be the simplest option.
All thoughts appreciated.

In before title!
I always find that its better to drive in as close as possible and find a street to park on for free. If it means a 10-15 minute walk or a bus then so be it. Otherwise I think you hit the nail on the head. Tube stations or local car parks will charge you anything between £5-15 to park for the entire day...depends on whether that amount is worth the experience of watching olympic tennis.

The Wimbeldon car parks are £25/day which is £6.25 per person (assuming 4 of you). Depends how much time you want to spend searching for parking and then getting to the tennis.

The ticket is valid from zone 9, which I was told is Watford. Might it be quicker to get a train from there into Euston, down the Northern line to Waterloo then overland to Wimbledon?
The section of M25 from the M1 to A3 is always busy- from the M4 to the A3 is pretty much a car park on Saturday mornings.

I live about a mile and half from the tennis and can verify that there is no free street parking. It's all permits and the last free street went permit only about a year ago. There will also be suspension of the residents permits whilst the tennis is on so people living around here will have difficulty parking.
There is a shopping centre in Wimbledon but a whole day of parking will cost £25 or more.
If I knew anywhere free to park, my car would be there
There is a tram that connects Croydon to Wimbledon and there is free street parking as you get nearer to Croydon. Try street view, that's what I do.

If you want to double check go to tfljourneyplanner.com and it will throw up all sorts of options, including overland trains and so on.
PS I live in West London and wouldn't dream of driving to Wimbledon whether there's tennis on or not.
Public transport in London is cheap (or free with your travel card)and fast. Cars are for getting out of town. Plus the roads are all mucked about by Olympic lanes at the moment.
