Chaps

Can anyone recommend a nice quiet beach resort in Europe- for my Mrs and I? We have been through alot recently so I would like to take her away.

Ideally looking for somewhere to spend a few hours on the beach in the day and then wonder into a picturesque-type town, maybe a few bars (not really into clubs), and decent restaurants. Maybe something with the option for water-sports (fnar, fnar!)

What say you sage PH?

Cheers

So you need two beaches, as anywhere with watersports (assuming you mean jet skies, etc) is not, by its nature, quiet.

"Sveti Klement (crowdfactor 11) is perfect for families, a green island with a hotel resort and a marina. There are no cars here but plenty of water sports including fishing and diving. The food is delicious, especially shellfish and fresh vegetables that are grown on the island. Sveti Klement has magnificent botanical gardens and many beaches and coves, and it's only 20 minutes from the popular central Dalmatian island of Hvar by boat."

Perhaps Mallorca? The north of the island can be very quiet and picturesque but still offers water sports in some of the more popular parts. There is a very real divide between north and south - don't think of it all as Magaluf! Awesome driving to be had as well. The Torrent de Parais canyon is huge fun if you like a bit of adventure.

La Rochelle and Il de Re?

seems a reasonable mix of 'life' (La Rochelle) and 'quiet' (Il de Re) + being Atlantic coast, watersports should be do-able

Cyprus. Hire a car and you can have:

Lovely beaches
Ancient ruins
Picturesque mountain villages
Fun nightlife

All very easily accessible.

Kos?

I went a month ago (week 5* all inc for 430 inc bags and transfers) and am back for slightly less in September (look at holiday shed/travelzoo - kipriatis resort..

It's far enough away from town (35 min walk/15 min cycle/7 min bus) and town is nice with the castle and a few bars on bar street the resort hadsits own private beach inc. soft drink bar there to maintain all inc drinks...we loved it so just a reccomendation

We were in Cannes last year, and took a day-trip to Antibes. Lovely old town with some cracking beaches. We'll probably go back there for a week at some point.

Kefalonia or Ithaca in the Greek islands.
Flights by Monarch to Kefalonia and then hire car. Was there last week sailing.
