Evening all, my wife is about to go on maternity leave so I thought I'd book us a couple of days away either in Stratford-upon-Avon or the Peak District to get her nice and relaxed start to it.

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to stay which is stylish and with character - if there is somewhere nearby with a spa then even better!

Not really fussed about cost - just has to be nice and relaxing.

Also any ideas about places to visit - whatever the weather- and good places to eat.

Thanks in advance.

I live near Stratford, and I really can't see any attraction to it outside of the Shakespeare thing. It does have a few good restaurants, but doesn't any town.

Peak District would be my choice. We've been to The Losehill House Hotel a couple of times, and loved it.

i also live near Stratford and to be honest apart from a few decent shops and restaurants then there is not a lot else to do, better off going to the cotswolds and visiting Stratford

I live in Stratford and echo the above - well worth a visit but that's it...some great hotels in Cotswolds, which might be easier on the missus than hilly Peaks.
