Lake Maggiore

To celebrate 40 odd years of marital bliss the parents are looking at going to Lake Maggiore for a few days at the end of September. Does anyone happen to know of any decent hotels, things to do and see, places to avoid etc? Budget is not the PH (Director, I own 3 TVR's) territory.

I've stayed at The Hotel Verbano a vew times now. Lovely place.

Be careful with the timing , most of the nice hotels are starting to pack up for winter at the end of September.
