I'm thinking of a week in Hong Kong in February. I haven't been since I were a lad and we still ran the joint. I've got a few buddies to catch-up with but can't rely on them being around the whole time, what's the expat scene like? Is mid-week a good craic or is it mainly lively at weekends?

Any recommendations for activities much appreciated, particularly food and boozing-related. Also, am considering staying here https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/53930 in Mong Kok, any advice on the area?

Thanks!

Ex pat scene's still pretty much the same.

I only visited HK the 1st time after it had been given back tot he CHines. Those ex pats who'd been there 20 years said the only difference for them was the the post boxes were now green instead of red!

Lan Kwai Fong: busy pretty much every evening, and there's a new Hard Rock Café at the top end of it, plus a lot of bars on Pedder St (IIRC?) if you turn right out of LKF at the top end.

Wanchai: Will never change! wink

Plenty to do and see on Lowloon if you take the Star Ferry too.

I have friends who live on Lamma Island. If you like seafood, or the beach, get over to Lamma. I recommend you try the restaurant that's the last on the left from the quayside, I forget the resto's name, before the street narrows, but it's GREAT!

Cable car to/from the Giant Buddha's a great view too. smile

There are quite a few PHers in HK, so they may add to this too with some insider knowledge.
