Avignon to Calais decent stop off

Hi, we're down in Avignon for the week and will be driving back on Saturday morning with a crossing booked for Sunday evening. Can anyone recommend a good route with an interesting stop over? We have visited Reims, Epernay etc before and enjoyed it but we're looking to try somewhere different now.

Troyes is a pretty town and is a good bit further north should you wish to get most of the driving done on the first day.
