Hi All,

My birthday is next month and I would like to take the family away for the weekend.

I don't want to go far (4 hours max).....but my youngest sons passport has just run out!!!!

Can we still travel around Europe without a valid passport for my son?

I ONLY need flights as I have points to use for the hotel....so how do I just search for the cheapest flights? I'm not too bothered about destination so which country is the cheapest to fly to?

I know it is a strange request...

Thanks in Advance

I'm leaning towards "Of course you can't".

I use skyscanner.net to look for flights.

Vueling (mainly to Barcelona)and BMIBaby are often cheap and not as bad as Ryannair and Easyjet.

Sadly, the days of cheap flights are largely gone with all the taxes they have shoved on.

A passport has always been required, surely? My children had theirs from babies.

If you're already within the Schengen zone (ie most of Europe but definitely not the UK - we refused) you can travel all around it without a passport although some form of identity is still useful in case you get randomly stopped. But to get to the Schengen zone you will need a passport for all of your party.

Have you thought about Scotland?
