Sopwell House in St Albans gets good reviews. Evening meal and treatments are included in the deal price!

plenty of offers, great food and you can uprade to a junior suite for an extra £40.
My contact tells me to avoid room 8.

Thanks - noticed 2 others from their group on the website which are a little closer - I just need to decide which Tynley Hall or Luton Hoo.Spent last weekend at Ashdown Park. Not an inexpensive weekend though.
To put it in context. Dinner from the a la carte menu for four with two bottles of wine (£75 each) was £440.
Rooms are £180 per night, a junior suite is £380.
We had free accommodation and our bill for two nights was £850.
Also, the spa is 100m walk from the hotel. Not ideal if it is puring with rain.
I only go there as it is 2 miles away and rather pleasant to eat.
