Anyone know what the likely snow forecast is looking like in the French Alps this year/season? Early/late/deep/none/etc?? Or where to find that info?

Looking to try and sneak in a long weekend before Xmas - did this last year and got snowed in in Tignes, a whole weekend with no lifts open due to absurd levels of dumpage. I'd like to see some decent snow before Xmas but decent useable snow at that!!

No-one has a clue. Long-term forecasts are notoriously unreliable and it is impossible to accurately predict how much snow will fall, and where, more than a week or so in advance.

I think most of the have had snow for the past two nights.

But it means absolutely nothing and has no bearing on what the snow might do in 8/10 weeks time.

Get yourself onto the Snow Heads and have a look at the weather outlook thread that’s on there. The OP of the topic seems obsessed with the weather and uploads a lot of info on weather patterns etc.

Having said all that it’s quite impossible to predict. I know many peoples arses were nipping last season, so much so that some cancelled their December trips-FOOLS.

I’d really wait as late as possible, my experience of December is very mixed from freezing cold but dry to huge dumps.
