Looking to do the same at New Year so would be interested to know.

I have flown with Air New Zealand before and they are good just never made the jump up.

i see they also offer a upgrade from poverty class to a row of 3 seats for a couple where the base folds out to make a small couch

The "space seats" are a more recent thing, on the 777s that do the NZ1/NZ2 routes.

They removed a row of seats last year, so minimum seat pitch is now 40" (up to 42" depending on where you sit), although with the angled design they reckon the effective pitch is about 3" more than that. No-one can recline into your space either.

I've flown Air NZ a few times now and always been happy - I know a couple of people who've flown on the new PE and been impressed. Our trip next month to Auckland will be in PE for the return leg, looking forward to it.

I flew cattle class a few weeks back and even for me being 6ft the leg room was amazing, 33" if you get the rows on either side of the plane, get the rear few rows and you get 2 seats instead of 3 and even more room around you.
