Playa Blanca is a nice resort in Lanzarote.
Avoid the Flamingo beach holiday village there though, and i don't think you can go far wrong.
Popped into this hotel during our stay, looked very nice

Deal on just now with Sovereign Holidays for the http://www.sovereign.com/hotel/6400 for Yaiza in Lanzarote
We looked at the deal earlier - ended up booking a villa instead as have the clan in tow - after years of long haul holidays went to lanzarote this year and liked it, back there for 2013

Not been to Gran Canaria or Teneriffe for decades so can't comment
Lanzarote: Avoid Costa Teguise, Famara, and Puerto del Carmen - all Chav infested s
tholes. Playa Blanca is your only hope. Several 4 star hotels in the resort which attract older people and better behaved clients. Quite a few good self catering villas on the outskirts of Playa Blanca and nice man made beaches along the seafront. Restaurants and supermarkets not up to much if you self cater.
Car essential for exploring. Timanfaya national park, Papagayo beaches, Pureto Calero, El Golfo and La Geriea and drive round the island and through valley of 1000 palms all worth seeing.
Furteventura: Avoid Calletta aka Calleta de Fuste. See Chav infested above and add aircraft noise. Jandia is a long, long hike to the south but has epic beaches. Cautious recommendation for Corralejo, it's a bit Marmite and chavvy in places and has mostly self catering accom. and a few hotels, some very good restaurants and much better supermarket. 3 bars with live bands to choose from in high street and open air restaurants by harbour. Really good deals on luxury self catering villas in La Olivia, Villaverde and Lajares near Corralejo.
Car essential. Sand dunes outside Corralejo and beaches at El Cotillo are absolutely epic. Nowhere near as much to see or do inland as Lanzarote.
My favourite by a long way is Furteventura but Playa Blanca probrably suits you best. Most PB hotels are a moments walk to the beach and PB beaches much more child or toddler friendly then Furventura ones.
