Me and two friends ever since growing up have tried to do atleast one or two road trips, or lads type things every year. Previous trips have included Geneva Motorshow in my Mini Cooper S, Italien trip taking in Pagani, Lamborghini, Ferrari Museum, Manitou, and various other lads trips out to boat shows, Pub Crawls, Rallying etc.

This coming year was maybe thinking of a German roads trip, taking in Porsche, Nurburgring and possible AMG. Anyone done this?

Itinerary wise was thinking of leaving Leeds first thing for the slog down to Folkstone for the train crossing to Calais. Quick splash of either diesel or petrol (depending what we take) and then a blast across Belgium across to Leige for an overnight stop.

Up at a leisurely time for the journey from Leige to the Porsche Museum for an afternoon mooch around and no doubt gawping at numerous specials. Hotel the night in Stuttgart including Ladies and strong German lager. Up and set off for the AMG factory, and then onto the nurburgring for a mooch about. Will be checking which days it is open, doubt we will be going round unless it is in the ring taxi. From the nurburgring an early evening journey back to Liege for the last overnight stop. The morning after up early to get tot eh eurotunnel and straight back home.

As it is PH trip prob wont be in a diesel but either a 350Z or a ST220 estate.

As ever any tips, tricks or adice greatly appreciated.

Hopefully a March 2013 trip

NOT do a lap of the Nurburgring!! Thats like going to a titty bar with your eyes closed! You don't have to race round and at least you can say you've done it and wear the sticker with pride!

If you can add a day or two, I'd recommend the Black Forest or Mosel Valley.

I normally Tunnel and then hit Stuttgart for the evening via Liege. Porsche and Mercedes Museum both nearby. Watch that they don't open on a Monday though. I did stop at Nurburgring on one trip, only to find it closed for a rock festival. Will try again next year.

It would be silly not to enjoy a day driving around in the Schwarzwald after Stuttgart.

My tip is to avoid stopping in belgium at any cost, and buy fuel in luxembourg.

i guess if you are going to austria then it makes sense to stop smile I drive to saarbrucken where I live, and the roads are so bad in belgium (and the service stations are even worse) I prefer just to get it out of the way. Perhaps I would find more to like if I ventured off the motorways... the scenery in the ardennes is quite nice i guess.
