Hey all,

I was looking into going back to Scotland in the first half of next year following a great driving trip this year but I wanted to get some recommendations for remote hotels, during our driving trips we seen what looked like great hotels out in the middle if nowhere but stupidly we didn't check to see what they where called.

Would really appreciate some help sourcing some nice ones, really like the castle feel with a bit of luxury if this helps.

Cheers.

Remote, luxury hotel in Scotland for a driving holiday?

I give to you The Torridon

Not sure which part of Scotland you were thinking about but there's an abundance of fantastic driving roads near Torridon

Thanks for the replies, should have said that due to driving time and places we visited this year I wouldn't like to go any further north than Skye so any recommendations within a couple of hours drive of there would be great.

Prefer to stay as far West as possible as this area seems to offer the best mix of driving and scenery.

Also open to Lodges etc, with a preference to ones with outdoor hot tubs.

(I would say this but...) Another vote for www.Torridon.com - either the hotel or the Inn next door. Most of the Pistonhead blats that come up stay at the Torridon.

Here's some of the local roads http://www.stevecarter.com/picaday/roads.htm

I can recommend the Flodigarry Country House Hotel on Skye; you'll struggle to find anything much more remote. smile

Agree. Went in July, amazing place. The restaurant would easily have a Michelin Star if it was in London. Get it booked now.

You are 1 hour from Eilean Donan castle, 40 mins (maybe less I can't recall) from the Applecross Porn etc.

Summer Isles Hotel North of Ullapool was the high spot of our driving holiday in that area.

Is a hotel I'd recommend for a remote(ish) getaway.

Some good roads in the area too.
