Dear all.

I am looking to give my son and daughter in law , a night away in a good hotel in York .

Both work like dogs and they need a night away from everything, including their boistrous 18 month old.

So, can anyone recomend a good hotel in York for me?

The place MUST be at least 4 star (although truly exceptional 3 star could be considered.

The place MUST have car parking onsite. (None of this buggaring around for somewhere to leave the car overnight)

The place needs to be as central as possible. A mile at most from the Town centre

Would prefer an independent as against a chain.

Preferably a cost at or below £100 for a double room with breakfast. Evening meal not needed, York is full of good small eateries so they can go where they wish.

Anyone any views. constructive criticism of my stated credentials welcome. Ta! thumbup

I`ve stayed at www.yorkminsterhotel.co.uk .Its in Bootham,a five minute walk to York Minster and everything else.It has a FREE! car park which is rare in the centre.Rooms from £109?? if you want to splash out they have a four poster room.As said parking near the centre is a night mare and most hotels insist on a minimum of a two night booking.

Thanks for that. Looking at their website though, it looks like they insist on a 2 night booking in most cases at weekends.

I'll have to keep digging, might have to change tack a little. I'll get there smile

There is only one 5 star in york. Tbh I wouldn't bother try somewhere like hotel du vin or marmadukes. Personally I wouldn't come to York especially at this time of year god its wet cold and depressing.
