I'm coming to UK to visit Autosport & Pistonheads show in Jan and currently looking to book a B&B. Most B&B's claim to be smoking-free, but does it usually mean no smoking inside or on the property entirely including terrace or garden? I'm a smoker, but I do only smoke outside. If smoking ban only applies to indoors it is irrelevant to me.
So is there a general rule with this no smoking policy or does every B&B have their own interpretation?

Thanks!

Very much dependant on the B&B.

Worst comes to the worst, you can always smoke out the front door on the street.

No smoking inside the property. Assume that you can't smoke ANYWHERE indoors - unless it's your house, your car or explicitly sign-posted. Most placed will have a desginated smoking area outside, although some places will have signs say that you can't smoke in certain outside areas....

So basically go outside, if there is no sign saying that you can't smoke, then assume that you can....

Thank you, it's much clearer now. Looks it's more or less same as here.

Slightly off topic,,
I thought you could book smoking rooms in hotels, which aren't too much different from b&b's but possibly cheaper ?

As for me I don't like to smoke indoors (with few exceptions) and I prefer small guest houses' atmosphere to big hotels'.

Not any more I don't think - smoking is against the law now inside any premise bar your own home I thought?
