Road trip: driving/camping in Europe, looking for advice

Got a road trip planned with a few friends in July, driving south to visit places/events/scenery. Nothing set in stone other than the start and end dates, the plan is to drive and camp or hostel it along the way - going through France, Spain, Morocco and back.

I'm all for road trips and camping, but previous experience (the odd weekend every couple of years) doesn't match up to the two week Morocco-and-back stint this will be.

So far we've checked out the laws on driving through each country (AA), found the international driving permit (post office), eyed up some locations on tripadvisor, getting travel insurance done and so on. Not sure what to look at next!

Any recommendations on camping gear, camping-related stuff I wouldn't think of, or driving advice? Any must-do/see along the way?
