I'm considering a fly drive holiday from Chicago to New Orleans in mid October, but cant seem to find much info on the weather to expect at that time of year. I know it wont be scorching, but it should still be warm I assume.

Anyone done this trip before?

Go to the wunderground site, put in the locations, and view the calendar. It allows you to view what the weather was in the past. It's very useful!

I've been to both places at various times of the year and I would say in general the weather in both is better than October is in the UK. Chicago can vary a lot, it could be up to 20C, or as low as 5C and the swing can be from one day to the next. New Orleans would be reliably be about 15-20 i.e. UK T-shirt weather hehe

What route/states are you planning on travelling?

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm planning on doing Route 66 to St Louis, then onto Nashville, Memphis, Vicksburg and finally New Orleans over an 11 day period. Its my 40th in October, and having done the west and east coasts, this seems a reasonably short road trip (compared to the ones we've done!).
