Yosemite hotels - any recommendations?
Discussion
Just planning a West Coast road trip and have most of the hotels sorted along the way, but a little confused at the choice available in the Yosemite area.
Its for a honeymoon, was looking at Tenaya Lodge but a lot of the reviews of it state how crowded it is during the summer months and very child friendly, which sort of puts me off!
Anyone have any recommendations? Hopefully staying two nights.
I used to stay at 'Silvertips Lodge" just outside the entrance to `Yosemite" but i was told recently it burnt down. Try going on www.tripadvisor.com and then search Yosemite hotels. They will list every hotel in the area. Try "Evergreen Lodge" its in the park and rooms start around $130 upwards depending on the time of year of course.

In May we stayed in the Best Western in Oakhurst, which is one of the small towns just outside Yosemite. It's about 20 mins by car to the park gate closest to Mariposa Grove.
Pretty good value for money and fairly comfortable. Not the poshest place but a good base for visiting the park.

It's a long way from the Valley though isn't it (1.5hrs+)? I know there's a lot more to Yosemite than just the valley, but if only on a brief visit, it's where the vast majority of people will want to go.Pretty good value for money and fairly comfortable. What's your budget, and when are you going?
