Right by the station and good bus routes, nice 4* place and amazing views from the restaurant on the 23rd floor.

Hi, I run an international events business (using 4/5 star hotels) and also lived in Barcelona for a year.
I loved http://www.hotelmiramarbarcelona.es/?l=en, set on Montjuic it offers something a little different. Take a look at their website and see if you like it. I think the seclusion makes this a more romantic place to relax.
More centrally, I really liked the http://www.pullman-barcelona-skipper.com/en/index.... a nice pool right on the front, modern rooms. Maybe slightly better as an event venue (lots of meeting space, but that is primarily in the basement but mid-week may be busy with events).

I´ve just come back from living in BCN for 3 1/2 years. The Torre is OK for a couple of nights and the breakfast on the top floor is great. It´s about €90 including brekkie. It´s right by Sants which helps, but as I stay there most weeks when I go back, it´s not what I would call romantic.
The Renaissance is quite good and right by Passeig de Gracia. You´re away from Las Ramblas, but close enough to the good restaurants in Lëxaimple.
The Wave is good as is the arts, but both are pricey... you´ll need a good deal to get less than €250 a night.
I´m not a fan of the Miramar, but the location is brilliant as I love Mont Juic and the views are great

I can thoroughly recommend this hotel - both the accommodation and location. It's a great city - enjoy:

I stayed at H1898 last year when I visited Barcelona. It's quite a nice hotel and perfect location on La Rambla. Nice roof terrace and the restaurant recommendations for dinner were great. Rooms were nice if not a little small and dark (not huge amount of natural light getting in) but I think we went for the cheapest room iirc.

Have stayed here too, last October. I can't argue with this review. Location and the roof terrace made it ideal for what we wanted.Ade07 said:
A friend has recommended Hotel 1898. Anyone stayed here?
Yes, stayed here several times, very nice hotel right on the Ramblas. Nunez y navarro hotels are generally good, especially the 3 star Hotel Jazz near the old University. The Hotel Olivia on Plaza Catalunya (4star, very minimalist design) and Hotel Majestic (Classic 5 star) on Passeig de Gracia are worth checking out too.The jiffle king said:

A bit off topic - but what did you do in Barcelona? The Renaissance is quite good and right by Passeig de Gracia. You´re away from Las Ramblas, but close enough to the good restaurants in Lëxaimple.

You have to stay at the W Hotel, stunning views, quiet pool with table/lounger service
Waking up to this every morning:-

I'd agree. Waking up to this every morning:-

I've been to Barcelona a number of times and the W has been the nicest hotel I've stayed in.
Hotel and rooms are stunning.
I think the standard room rate is circa €500 a night.
