Krakow - Places to go / Things to see.....
Discussion
Apologies if this has already been done, but the search function seems to have been down for a good while now...!
Basically we've got 3 days in Krakow, and I'm just after any tips on things to see / do, and for any pointers on good places to eat / drink while we're there. We've already got a tour of Auschwitz booked for one day, and will more than likely spend another day having a walk around the Castle / Old Town etc. Are there any hidden gems that we should be looking out for....?

Hi, it's a great place, I reckon the salt mine is worth a visit

There is also a great bar in a basement just off the main square called the Music Bar if my hazy memory serves!

Book a trip with these guys http://www.crazyguides.com/ for a trip around Krakows communist past in a lovely old Trabant.
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.
There seems to be a common theme of people knowing that there are plentiful bars, but for some reason not remembering anything about where they were, or what they were called! I can see which way our evenings will probably end up going.....!

The Salt Mines and Communist tour look good too. Like I say we have already booked an Auschwitz tour, and I realise that this will be a pretty sombre experience, so I'm guessing a tour around in a Trabant could give a bit of a lighter side to the history of the city!
Any more suggestions, keep em coming!

Yup auchwitz is an eye opening experience. I also visited the Schindler factory.
Pop along to the Buddha bar on the main square. Nice atmosphere and chilled music even if its not an official buddha bar!
There's a load of bars and cafes in the old Jewish ghetto. Definately worth an evening. There's a fantastic bar called alchemia which I enjoyed.

I found Auchwitz emotionally exhausting, seem to remember being shattered and a bit uneasy afterward. It made a lasting impression as it was ten years ago and I have never once wanted to look at the pics I took. Sorry, that was a bit of a downer, don't be put off, just be aware that it is intense

This looks awesome! Going on my Krakow stag do - to do listAuchwitz.
It is a somber place and i am not sure if you have transport sorted but if you go by regular bus please be warned that the timetable is a target to aim for, not a goal there and you will get one bus for every two that it says should arrive if it is anything like when we went.
Also try not to land one on those you will encounter doing any of the following:-
1. Talking loudly about their personal lives during the guided tour.
2. Making jokes and engaging in the sort of horseplay that doesn't really have a place there.
3. Taking "thumbs up" and similar crass photos under the main gate.
When we went most people were very respectful, and indeed there were some who were a bit over come by it all. That said there is always the odd moron who thinks it is just a day off school - We were stuck with a group of Dutch students, most of whom seemed to think it was all a good laugh...
