We are looking for inspiration - somwhere that is warm, relaxing and will entertain our 2 year olds!

Could be UK or abroad.

Stayed in a hotel last year in Majorca and found it claustrophobic and impractical having to wash bottles and baby stuff in the bathroom sink!

So villa, aparthouse, cottages all preferred.

Budget.....mid-range I guess. Nothing cheap, nothing ludicrously expensive.

Any ideas?

This place looks great for kids (but risking the "warm" criteria!):

We just booked our flights to Ibiza in September last night. Not really what you are looking for I suppose.

Also off to Thailand for a couple of weeks at the end of March.

Try Ownersdirect for Villas though.

Book a villa yourself. We normally spend our summer in the French Alps. We drive over, and rent a chalet. Prices are much much cheaper than the winter, and there's plenty to do for the family. I can PM you a suggestion if required.

I've booked a 4 star in decent resort with private beach in Roda in Corfu. 4 of us (2 toddlers)

Wife & I went here about 6yrs ago before kids and it seemed ideal for families

That said however, we recently watched that Kavos programme and realised we will be sharing the plane & airport home with them!

Yes please mate.

Enough there for just turned 2 year olds?

No kids club or anything like that, but plenty in town for kids. Outdoor and indoor swimming pool, playgrounds, lots of fresh air. We've been going for the past couple of years, my two are 2 and 4.

Have done. I usually budget £400 for the travel inc. crossing. So with the chalet at €900 per week, it's a reasonably economical holiday.

Thanks, looks nice.

What sort of temperatures does it get up to in summer?

The only push-back I imagine I will get from the wife is that is obviously not near the sea but other than that I like it as an option.

Geneva and Lausanne presumably interesting for visits.

Weather is usually very nice in the summer. Last year it was a touch hot, but that was true all over France.

I'm not a fan of Geneva so wouldn't particularly recommend it. Annecy is much nicer and worth a trip. Lausanne can be reached by ferry from Thonon, about 30 min drive.

No sea beach, but you can go swimming in Lake Geneva from the municipal beach at Thonon.

I love Mallorca.

Forget hotels. Just book a villa direct with sites like villarenters, ownersdirect of holidaylettings. Some you have to pay a damage deposit but I think villarenters offer a £25 insurance payment instead.

I cannot think of anything worse than a hotel full of people you probably won't like and being regimented. A villa an private or communal pool gives you total freedom. Sure you have to make a few trips to the local supermarket for drinks and food but it's no hardship.
