Booked a trip to Whistler on 28th Feb for a week, what is the best way to get there from the airport?

Avis are doing a Jeep Cheroke for £220/week inc insurance which doesn't too bad. There will be 2 adults travelling without skis.

cheers

Take a hire car. The sea to sky highway is very picturesque and is a pleasant drive.

What's parking like in Whistler?
Hotel (Hilton) is wanting $30/night!

It might have changed since I was last there (2008) but there were loads of free car parking by the two main lifts in the middle of town.

The lots nearest town are pay, but only about £5 a day.

We got a "limo" (I'd have said it was a big fat saloon) for pretty much what a taxi would have costed and a hell of a lot less than the hire car.

From YVR to Whistler? It's about 85 miles, the standard rate from the airport is 341CAD plus tax.

Hmmm. It was ten years ago, for my honeymoon, so you might be best ignoring me but I'm pretty sure it was remarkably cheap.

You won't need a car while you're staying there. We usually ring the Avis office in Whistler (001 604 932 1236) and book two one way hires. The Whistler office claims to do a special rate for two one way hires.

Parking in the village lots is now paid, as a previous poster noted.

Some people don't fancy getting off the flight and going straight into a 2 hour drive. If you're flying BA, the flight lands around 18.30 YVR time which is 02.30 London time. Add 45 mins to exit the airport and hit the road, and you're driving 03.15-05.15. I find it OK, but plenty of people I know prefer not to have to drive. The route itself is pretty straightforward, even in the dark and rain (which you might get if unlucky). I have some directions somewhere if you'd like them.

You can pick up a limo from outside the airport door. I think it's about $300 (maybe $350) to get to Whistler. Ie expensive. Otherwise there is a coach service, which is cheap and st. Or you could book a cab through Whistler Resort Cabs or Whistler Taxi.

I have done both the coach and hire car. I always prefer to drive myself and would recommend taking up the option of one way rental. There was no one way fee when we looked into it.

But, remember that the weather can be terrible which will make the drive a nightmare. The time we took the coach we were very grateful. The snow was a blizzard all the way to Whistler. Our coach driver was doing much better that the SUVs on the way up.
