Has anyone been on one?

There seem to be quite a few 'luxury coach trips' advertised at really cheap prices - half board, evening entertainment, day excursion and accomadation for 3 or 4 nights from £80. I appreciate that Feb and early March aren't prime travelling times...but it seems very cheap even so.

I'm certainly tempted - just wondered if antone here had been on one?

Make sure they do Bingo in the hotel......

Good value if you don't mind dining with another couple you don't know from Adam.......

Make sure the coach stops for a "comfort break" at least every eight hours.....

I'm sure the entertainment ( whether it be bingo or a tea dance)isn't compulsory and one could always wander out of the hotel and mix with the locals instead biggrin

I'd think that most people would have some conversation of interest...even if it's limited to their experiences of previous coach trips biggrin

The luxury coaches boast an on-board toilet in addition to the 'comfort break' stops biggrin

World's worst form of long distance travel IMO.

I was looking at a 4 day break in Oban for £119. It's about 900 miles round trip and it would cost more than that in petrol to go there.
I think it would be an experience - just was interested if anyone else had done one.

Driving to Oban will be much more fun than a coach. You can drive to Applecross one day for a start...

Not always as the typical person who goes on holidays like these is likely to have a catheter.

I see those coaches round Scotland all the time. I reckon it would drive you up the fking wall in no time. The old codgers will love talking to that nice young couple from the bus.

If you do go make sure you post a report ......

I once was dragged along on a coach 'pub lunch' trip by my Grandmother.

Never again.

With the mainly negative comments - I thought I might risk a shorter journey first ( both in distance and days hehe )to test one out.
I was a bit surprised that travel insurance is compulsory and their quote for a few days was £30+. There was an option for you to provide details of your own travel insurance provider - so will have to think about getting that sorted first. Not quite so easy to take advantage of the last minute offers if the insurance already needs to be in place.

Insurance is compulsory as most of the customers will need it.

Have discovered you can just say you're 'self-insured' which seems fine to me smile

Next problem I've encountered is with some companies there's only a few trips that have a convenient drop off and pick-up point...and not the places I want to visit.
